Landon Donovan is cooling the temperature on the Balogun situation. The USMNT legend told Fox News he was “disappointed” that the Folarin Balogun red-card controversy “got out of hand” after Trump's involvement amplified the fiasco. The IOC separately ruled any complaint over Infantino's role in Balogun's World Cup ban falls outside its scope, per the New York Times. The governance mess looks increasingly unlikely to be relitigated — meaning Balogun carries that baggage into the next cycle without official remedy. He still matched Donovan's own record for second-most USMNT goals in a single World Cup, which says everything about the player underneath the controversy.
